Why is my Project Important?

A lot of kids struggle with their emotions and don't know how to deal with them. Many are taught that there are good and bad emotions, such as happy and mad, but experiencing all emotions should be normalized. If kids are taught to not show certain emotions or are yelled at when they do try to express them, they'll feel confused and wonder what they're doing wrong. It's very common for kids to express their emotions in immature ways such as hitting or yelling that seem unacceptable to adults or older kids. However, younger kids just don't know how to safely express their emotions yet and are doing their best to show how they feel. As they grow and develop, it's crucial for parents to teach their kids safe ways to communicate their emotions and feelings and for them to be very patient during the process. It may take time for some kids to get a better understanding of how to control their emotions, but they need supportive parents and adults to help guide them. With my project, I hope to teach kids safe and fun ways to handle their emotions as well as provide parents with resources on how to support and educate their children on social emotional learning.
